TVHC helps kick off student orientation at their school sites
Earlier this month, Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center (TVHC) Youth Health Services (YHS) Team helped kick off student orientations at Logan, Hayward, Tennyson, and Castro Valley High Schools. During the orientations, YHS provided school supplies such as notebooks, stress balls, erasers and pens, and candy — as well as provided information to students and parents regarding TVHC’s resources at the school health centers.
At the Castro Valley High School (CVHS) orientation, the YHS team helped promote the new, upcoming CVHS Health Center to parents and students, which is set to open in September. The TVHC Health Center at CHVS will be open to students during school hours, and open to all community members after school hours, helping to increase access to care.
The YHS team also hosted its annual Back-To-School breakfast for the four schools’ faculty members, which also serves as a time for the YHS team to meet new faculty and share information about the health centers on campus and give tours.
Students were offered tours of the school-based health centers and given in-depth information on the services available to them.
The tours during student orientation help reduce fear and stigma by familiarizing students with the health centers on campus and encouraging students to utilize the available services.
TVHC thanks their YHS Health Educators for all their work in welcoming back students and faculty to James Logan High School, Hayward High School, Tennyson High School, and Castro Valley High School.
