Native American Health Center Expand Indigenous Community Programs

Native American Health Center (NAHC) continues to expand on their traditional community wellness programs as well as highlighting Indigenous practices.

Indigenous Red Market

NAHC’s Indigenous Red Market, first launched in 2018 as a unique opportunity to provide stronger, more culturally informed Indigenous healthcare and wellness services, launched the first one of this year earlier this month. This event is always a safe gathering space where community members can celebrate their culture, share their art, and build their communities.

Since its inception, the Red Market has grown to include 40 vendors, cultural entertainment, and is regularly attended by over 1,200 visitors per event and was recently awarded the East Bay EDA Innovation Award for Arts & Culture. It’s no longer just a market; it’s a celebration of urban Indigenous culture, education, empowerment, and healing.

Women’s Healing Conference

Also, earlier this month, NAHC hosted their 2nd Annual Women’s Healing Conference. An empowering event, led by Matriarch of Ceremonies, Lakota Harden, included women and Two-Spirit relatives from communities across California who came together to share wisdom, solidarity, and to connect with each other and to their culture.
