Earlier this month, Dr. Kyu Rhee, President and CEO of the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC), made a visit to our Alameda Health Consortium offices for a lively discussion with us, our state partner, the California Primary Care Association (CPCA) other Bay Area consortia that included Community Health Partnership, and San Francisco Community Clinic Consortium and of course our member health centers.
We’re the best, most robust, diverse, and innovative part of our health system…” Dr. Rhee
We were able to have an open roundtable-style discussion about healthcare priorities and initiatives and use this unique opportunity for our health centers to share more about their needs and the role that NACHC can play in helping them achieve some of these goals and assist with these priorities.
Our health centers used this opportunity to brainstorm with Dr. Rhee on a myriad of issues including; how best to elevate and celebrate community health centers so that we’re no longer the best-kept secret in the nation; how we can develop health center leaderships both at the clinical level and board level; how best to create and retain a robust workforce; how do we fold in innovations, like AI, to care delivery while still building trust and connection within our communities; and how do we stay connected nationally so that we can develop our coalitions and systems and collaborate instead of being separated by silos created by geography and different needs.
This robust conversation was supplemented by Dr. Rhee’s presentation on some of the changes happening at the Federal level that can assist with some of the unique needs we face at the local level. Dr. Rhee also took this opportunity to visit our member health centers throughout the week to learn more about their work and how we can continue to partner with each other.
