BACH Promotes Civic Engagement and Voter Participation

Bay Area Community Health (BACH) is set to play a pivotal role in promoting civic engagement and ensuring that community members can actively participate in the democratic process. Encouraging voter participation not only strengthens democracy but also empowers individuals and communities to have a say in the decisions that affect their lives.

To make voter registration more accessible, we are hosting regular tabling events at our Liberty and Irvington clinics. During these events, our dedicated staff and volunteers are on hand to assist patients and community members with voter registration, provide essential information on eligibility requirements, and answer any questions about the voting process. These events are also an opportunity for us to educate the community about the Voter’s Choice Act (VCA), which guides our efforts. The VCA simplifies voting by offering multiple options for casting a ballot, helping to close the participation gap for historically underrepresented voters.

In addition to our clinic-based initiatives, we’re utilizing our mobile clinics to reach even more people within the community. These mobile clinics are equipped with voter registration forms and educational materials, allowing us to bring the resources directly to those who might face barriers to accessing them otherwise. This effort is part of our commitment to making voting as convenient and accessible as possible.

We are also leveraging our digital platforms to share critical voter information. BACH is making it easier for people to stay informed and engaged by using engaging content like infographics and social media updates designed to simplify the voting process and reach a broader audience, particularly younger voters. By creating a network of accessible voting resources, both online and in-person, BACH aims to ensure that every eligible voter can participate in this crucial democratic process.

Starting October 7, we will also be participating in Alameda County’s Voter Registar Ballot Drop Stop program, hosting a Drop Stop table outside BACH’s Liberty and Irvington clinics two days per week. This provides a convenient and secure way for voters to return their ballots, further promoting accessibility and ensuring that everyone in our community can make their voice heard.
