Axis Community Health Drive-Thru Health Services Launches
With weeks of shelter in place, many patients are in need of a health check to ensure their ongoing good health. On May 14, Axis Community Health piloted drive-thru testing by appointment for patients with diabetes who are due for a hemoglobin A1C blood test.
Operating out of Suite B at their Railroad Avenue site and using walky-talkies to communicate with one another, staff greeted patients and directed them into the testing drive-thru lane; checked patients in; and completed the brief test. Staff were protected with PPE and patients never left their vehicles, providing a safe encounter for all. The drive-thru was open from 9 am to 11:30 am with a 100% show rate of all patients scheduled.
Thank you to Iris Martinez (Director of Clinical Services) , Gaby Esparza (Clinic Manager), and Nancy Cadena (Clinic Manager) who piloted this new way to bring back essential services.
Axis will offer drive thru service by appointment at Railroad for pediatric and adult immunizations soon.
