AHS at White House Initiative on AA & NHPI Mental Health Summit
Our member health center, Asian Health Services (AHS) was honored to participate in the inaugural 2023 White House Initiative on Asian American (AA) and Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (NHPI) Mental Health Summit held in collaboration with the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. AHS CEO, Julia Liou highlighted the critical and innovative work of their Behavioral and Specialty Mental Health teams, and the need for workforce investments to increase AANHPI representation in the mental health workforce.
AHS was especially thankful for the opportunity to collaborate with notable partners like WHIAAPI Executive Director Krystal Ka’ai, HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra, Assistant Secretary for Mental Health and Substance Use Dr. Miriam Delphine-Rittmon, and Assistant Secretary for the Administration of Children and Families January Contreras and for their leadership in elevating AANHPI mental health issues. It was inspiring to have the WHIAAPI Commission for put on this groundbreaking convening to strategize and for promoting mental health and well-being in the AANHPI community.
