Bay Area Community Health’s TransVision Program

During the recent November City Council Meeting, Fremont Mayor Lily Mei presented a Proclamation to Bay Area Community Health (BACH) in honor of Transgender Day Remembrance.  This declaration is dedicated to acknowledging the achievements and successes of their gender-expansive community while also shedding light on the ongoing efforts required to combat anti-transgender violence and foster a truly equitable community.

During their acceptance comments, Axl Yugi Albior, TransVision Program Supervisor, and Dr. Harsha Ramchandani, Chief Medical Officer, emphasized, “It is important for everyone to use this day to raise awareness about the discrimination and violence still faced by trans individuals, all while celebrating the beauty and empowerment that come with visibility and pride.”

TransVision commenced its operations in 2002, focusing initially on HIV Prevention Services. In 2010, the organization expanded its scope to include trans-specific primary care services, providing care to more than 200 transgender patients. The enhancement of TransVision services involves a dual commitment: safeguarding privacy and elevating the visibility of the patient population.

Preserving confidentiality is paramount to building trust, and TransVision ensures a secure and private environment throughout its facilities, from the lobby to the examination rooms. The atmosphere at TransVision radiates a sense of community and belonging, fostering a space where patients feel safe and supported.
